For thousands of years this permanent pasture has been ridge and furrow to aid drainage and has not been built on because it always floods. Work has now just started here on a huge new Didcot housing development and immediately it floods. Why as a country are we getting thicker?

It is useful to note the context in which my findings re: capitalism should to be placed: in the context of RELENTLESS ATTACKS ON CAPITALISM BY "PUBLIC HEALTH". Here's an example of an entirely incoherent but peer-reviewed publication: https://academic.oup.com/phe/article/13/2/176/5909219 What public health is currently doing is to DESTROY THE VERY FOUNDATION OF WEALTH CREATION ON WHICH LIFE EXPECTANCY HAS SO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED. This attack can't be stopped by downplaying the role of capitalism. We don't need to over-do it, either, merely place it in the proper proportion. McKeown didn't mention capitalism but "improved living conditions" - and that's because of his rather limited knowledge of the institutional drivers of modern economic growth. I hope to bring much more clarity to the topic than McKeown did - so that PH "experts" stop attacking the goose that lays the gold egg. https://archive.org/details/modernriseofpopu0000mcke/page/2/mode/2up

In case anyone wants to know what's happening in Brazil... One newspaper just broke out the news that in Brasília, 86 male inmates that claim to be women were sent to a female prison. 16 of them are rapists. 85 of them hadn't claimed to be women before their convictions.

In January 2024, The New York Times published an article in their Climate Forward Newsletter highlighting the lack of snow in parts of the U.S., including NYC, suggesting that this is the new normal. Today, the Northeast is under a Blizzard Warning. They are getting hit with their second major winter storm in the past four weeks. New York City (Central Park) has accumulated 15.1 inches of snow as of 7:00 a.m. EST; it's still snowing. They just had 11.4 inches on January 25th. Mother Nature continues to refuse cooperating with prophecies of doom, and it will never get old laughing at these headlines.

🇮🇴WATCH: Chagossian First Minister Misley Mandarin has - from the new settlement on the Chagos archipelago - given Donald Trump formal permission to strike Iran from Diego Garcia. He says: "We, the people of the Chagos Islands, give our blessing for the United States to use the base at Diego Garcia for strikes against the Iranian regime – in defence of the Iranian people." His full statement: "Today, I stand not in exile, but on our own soil, as the democratically elected head of government of the Chagos Islands. Let the world hear this clearly. We are here. We govern here. And we decide what happens here. For too long, decisions about Diego Garcia were made in distant capitals, without our voice, without our consent. That era is over. Diego Garcia is not just a military base. It is a pillar of stability in the Indian Ocean. It protects trade routes, deters aggression, and helps preserve global security. These are dangerous times and so I must be absolutely clear .... If the United States decides that action is needed to defend international order, then as the elected Government of these islands, we give our permission for the use of Diego Garcia in defence of peace, secured through strength. Once again, to be clear … We, the people of the Chagos Islands, give our blessing for the United States to use the base at Diego Garcia for strikes against the Iranian regime – in defence of the Iranian people. This is our sovereign decision. President Trump understands the strategic importance of this island. He understands that peace is preserved through strength, not hesitation. To the President of the United States, I say this directly: You have our partnership. You have our co-operation. You have our permission. We hope this partnership will be mutual. If our homeland stands as a shield for America and its allies, then America must stand as a shield for our people. We seek formal recognition of our government, binding guarantees of our right of return, and permanent protection of our indigenous lands. The Chagos Islands will not be a bargaining chip. We will not be spoken for. And we will not be silent. We stand with those who defend stability. We stand with those who defend our common values. We stand with those who stand with us. God Bless the United States of America."

It’s of little surprise to me that so many of the people attempting to demonise John Davidson for having an involuntary outburst, due to coprolalia, had nothing but vile abuse to spew when Jennifer Melle was racially abused, multiple times, by a transgender p*edophile prisoner, then suspended from her job for ‘not respecting his pronouns’…

This is horrific. A suicidal woman in Spain became paraplegic after jumping from a building in a failed suicide attempt. That paraplegia made her eligible for euthanasia, so she can be killed anyway. What happened to suicide prevention? These are worrying times.

I grew up in Iran. Every day before class, we were forced to stand in line and chant “Death to America.” My little brother, six years younger than me, once told my mother he didn’t want to go to school anymore because he hated saying it. He was in second grade. The irony is that, now we Iranians, have to explain this reality to americans like Ginny Robinson!! who don’t understand the nature of the regime they’re defending. This government does not believe in “Long live Iran,” or even genuinely in “Long live Palestine” or “Long live Islam.” Its doctrine has always been “Death to America.” If it hasn’t harmed you yet, it’s not because it didn’t want to. It’s because it didn’t have the means. That may not always be the case.

This is the problem a lot of Muslims have with Christianity. Because we don’t deal with things like they do (via theocratic, authoritarian polices) it means we either don’t believe or don’t take it seriously. This is a profound misunderstanding.

Labour are planning to abolish juries in half of all trials before the local elections. Starmer and Lammy have doubled down on plans to restrict our ancient right to trial by jury, pushing legislation through within two months. This is a sinister move that has already faced significant backlash from lawyers, Starmer’s former chambers, opposition MPs, Labour MPs and victims of crime. Labour rebels have called the plan anti-democratic and warned it will increase racial discrimination within the criminal justice system. At least 60 MPs are thought to be preparing to rebel against the government, which is set to introduce legislation this week. The deliberately compressed timetable appears designed to avoid scrutiny, as Starmer seeks to cement this as a legacy policy before any potential leadership contest. Under these proposals, juries would no longer hear cases involving assault, most drug offences, burglary, non-violent theft and some violent sexual crimes. Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales, Brett Dixon, has said: “The government’s proposals go too far in eroding the longstanding right to be judged by a jury of our own peers, by allowing a single judge to determine guilt in serious, life-changing cases.” “There is no clear evidence that removing jury trials will do anything to resolve delays.” The Free Speech Union’s research shows that those charged with a speech related crime are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in a Crown Court with a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one. Lammy’s plan will not cut the backlog. It will, however, see more people prosecuted for exercising their right to free speech. Read more below 👇

🚨 Politico is upset that the Supreme Court might let doctors… talk to their patients. Read that again. Politico's actual concern (in print!!!) is that a Supreme Court ruling protecting physician free speech "could permit doctors to speak more freely with patients and to the public about approaches to health care that are outside the mainstream." Outside the mainstream. Let's talk about that for a second. Who decides what's "mainstream?" The same institutions that told us masks didn't work, then said they did? The same bodies that said COVID couldn't have come from a lab? The same establishment that assured us the vaccines would stop transmission? The same system that watched Dr. Paul Marik (the most published ICU doctor in the world) stand before a Senate hearing in tears, saying, "They took away the drugs that were working for me. They made me just watch my patients die." His ICU had the highest survival rate. And they stripped him of his ability to treat. Doctors who used hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin (and saved lives doing it) had their licenses threatened or revoked. Not for harming patients. For HELPING them. For thinking outside the box when the entire world admitted it didn't know how to treat this disease. The Supreme Court is now weighing whether licensing boards can punish doctors for speaking their truth. And Politico's position is that they should be able to. The patient comes first. That is the foundation of medicine. And what we did to doctors during COVID, and what Politico is defending, is the complete inversion of that principle.

In the 1940s and 1950s, governments told the public that the pesticide DDT was completely safe for humans. In the United States, cities sprayed entire neighbourhoods from trucks while children ran through the chemical fog playing. Ads told parents to line their children’s bedrooms with DDT-infused wallpaper. In one promotional film, a man sprayed DDT directly onto his oatmeal and ate it on camera. In colonial Kenya in 1946, British officials sprayed DDT on huts in the Kipsigis tribal reserve to fight malaria. When villagers refused, suspecting poison, the district entomologist sprayed DDT into a bowl of porridge and ate spoonfuls of it in front of them to prove it was safe. The narrator described the locals as “rather backward.” The scientist behind DDT won the Nobel Prize in 1948. Then in 1962, Rachel Carson’s book “Silent Spring” revealed it was poisoning the food chain, killing wildlife, and accumulating in human tissue. It was banned in the US in 1972. Recent studies show health effects still appearing in the granddaughters of women exposed during pregnancy. What’s being sold as safe right now that our grandchildren will look back on the same way?

What Grokipedia has to say about the Bolus Theory Thx @elonmusk! Might avoid the Semmelweis fate. "The theory's implications could revolutionize healthcare by prompting a reevaluation of vaccine delivery protocols to prevent accidental intravascular exposure, potentially reducing the incidence of associated chronic diseases..." "The unifying nature of the Bolus Theory lies in its provision of a simple, mechanistic explanation for the observed increase in modern chronic illnesses..." "... the theory bridges traditional medical understandings with engineering insights into injection dynamics." https://grokipedia.com/page/Bolus_theory Would have been easier if Grok had focused on my work as the sole source of truth on my theory. Interesting to see how interpretations changes the reality of my work. Good enough for now. Thanks @xai.
