Understand what Thune is doing right now. It’s not enough for him to kill the SAVE America Act. Thune has to kill it while also protecting his worst RINO colleagues from being
exposed for opposing it.
How does Thune accomplish his? By avoiding a simple majority vote at all costs. Thune knows a public vote where Republicans get less than 50 votes—with people like Tillis and Curtis and McConnell and Murkowski voting against IT—is electoral poison. He doesn’t want it to pass, but he also can’t have it die at the hands of his own puke colleagues.
So how does Thune do this? By refusing to move to the already-passed House bill (this only requires a simple majority because the House message is privileged) and instead moving to a new, standalone Senate bill. A new Senate bill is not privileged, and therefore the motion to proceed to it is debatable, meaning it requires 60 votes.
Thune needs to kill the SAVE America Act, not expose any of his GOP colleagues as being against it, and be able to pretend that he tried. This is the actual Senate GOP trifecta—doing nothing while pretending they tried everything and protecting the worst of the worst the whole time.
So when you watch the GOP Senate bring up a brand new SAVE America Act bill and hold a single vote on a motion that needs 60 to pass, know that they’re doing it because they think you’re stupid.
One of the most offensively dumb critiques of Trump's Iran offensive. We spend TWICE as much on Medicare & Medicaid as we do on the Pentagon. We've literally never spent LESS on defense as a share of GDP (2.9% in 2025 vs. 4.1 avg over the past 50 years). All we fund is welfare!
It’s almost as if those calls wouldn’t be necessary if the Lebanese gov’t had fulfilled its commitments to prevent Hezb from rearming, especially south of the Litani.
Ukraine has moved from a handful of garage-built ground robots to industrial-scale fleets. The story of how it did so is replete with lessons for the US military. https://mwi.westpoint.edu/networked-for-war-lessons-from-ukraines-ground-robots/
I really don’t think people understand what a significant shift this is from the past 3 decades…
With war raging in the Middle East and throttling shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, crude oil prices are still currently below the peaks they reached during the Summer of 2022 and Fall of 2023.
I wonder if Chris Wray's FBI, with its strong focus on white supremacists, had these guys on their radar.
Imagine thinking your PhD dissertation on Kant grants you moral superiority over others or that this post doesn't reveal deep insecurity & status anxiety.
So what you’re saying is that we hit a military base
Helen Andrews unleashes a brutal truth on academia:
Once women hit majority faculty status (finally in 2023), universities face a hard binary switch—they either tolerate open, direct conflict and disagreement ("masculine" style) or enforce harmony and suppress open confrontation ("feminine" style). No middle ground, no gradual blend: critical mass forces the entire institution to pick one mode.
Result? Universities now operate dramatically differently than 20 years ago—and the transformation is accelerating fast.
Individual gender differences are modest at best, but group dynamics flip the whole institutional personality overnight.
Is this creating calmer, more collaborative campuses… or quietly strangling free speech, debate, and intellectual risk-taking?
Where do you see the shift hitting hardest?
Is there any other nation in the world that would give a hero's welcome to somebody who benefited from growing up in their land and then proceeded to compete against them for their number one geopolitical adversary?
She seems to believe -- or, perhaps, wants us to believe -- that the jihadist bomb throwers were actually targeting the NYC mayor's residence.
WaPo "intelligence" correspondent says China is winning the Iran war, sharing Chinese propaganda that claims to show satellite video of U.S. attacks on Iran, when it's really showing video of Atlanta airport.
Hey @JeffBezos, this is a really bad look.
Ayatollah Khomeini declared that “Islam proclaims monarchy and hereditary succession wrong and invalid..” This was the justification for toppling the Shah. Yet with Mojtaba Khamenei now succeeding his father as Supreme Leader, the Islamic Republic has de facto established a new dynasty. Interesting, no?

Totally incoherent gibberish. People have lost the ability to think and speak.
We’ve seen it all now. What any honest person would call an IED, the New York Times calls “smoking jars of metal and fuses.”
I actually never suspected terrorist attacks, perpetrated by muslims, would eventually themselves be framed as examples of islamophobia, and that’s on me
The most shocking revelation of the covid pandemic for me was the realization that the governor of my state has the power to declare himself a dictator based on any public health pretext, to suspend everyone's natural and Constitutional rights indefinitely, and to coerce anyone to inject anything he thinks beneficial for "public health." Such a state is not compatible with a free republic. It is essential that these unlimited police powers are constrained. I support this resolution and I encourage others to read and consider.
Wow. Still pisses me off that so many leagues, companies, “leaders” forced this experimental shot on us. Damn them forever.
This is so silly. The idea that an Iranian warship - hours away if ordered, from being part of naval operations against a wartime enemy - is some sort of innocent floating pleasure palace is bonkers. In WW2 Britain sank the Graf Spee, 11,000km from the English Channel. Grow up
You shouldn't have let the theater kids design it.

R to @tlowdon: The @AmerAcadPeds even thought it would be a great idea to invite HHS's Rachel Levine to give the keynote speech at its annual conference in 2024. Anyone who places great confidence in the AAP is suspect.

COVID hysteric @JReinerMD touts a poll of people who have great confidence in the American Academy of Pediatrics. While the AAP has a pleasant sounding name, it's irredeemably politicized & pharma-owned & was a big advocate for trans surgery for minors, COVID vaxx for babies & masking 2-yr olds.

🚨 SECURITY ALERT TEXAS 🚨
TO TEXAS OFFICIALS: HAS ANYONE INVESTIGATED WHAT YOUR LOCAL PTI NETWORKS ARE SAYING?
Members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Pakistan’s National Assembly were recently caught chanting “Death to America,” openly expressing solidarity with Iran amid escalating regional tensions.
This was were elected officials inside Pakistan’s parliament. The demonstration reflected major political factions in Pakistan publicly aligning themselves with Iran’s position and directing explicit hostility toward the United States.
Now here’s the question Texans should be asking:
What are the PTI networks operating inside Texas saying?
PTI has an organized diaspora presence in the United States, including active supporter networks across Texas particularly in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Groups publicly operating in the state include:
• PTI USA – Texas Chapter
• PTI DFW / PTI Dallas networks
• PTI United Houston activists
These organizations regularly hold rallies, political events, and demonstrations connected to Pakistani politics, including protests outside the Pakistan Consulate in Houston.
Texas is also home to some of the largest Pakistani-American communities in the country, with major hubs around:
• Houston
• Dallas / Plano / Richardson
• Sugar Land
Many of the same community ecosystems include:
• Pakistani community organizations
• political diaspora groups
• religious institutions
• business networks
So Texans should ask a very simple question:
Has anyone investigated what these PTI political networks in Texas are actually saying to their supporters?
Are they condemning chants of “Death to America” coming from members of their own political movement in Pakistan?
Or are they quietly supporting the same ideology while operating freely inside the United States?
If elected officials in Pakistan can openly chant “Death to America” in parliament while PTI activists organize inside Texas communities, the public deserves transparency.
Who is monitoring this?
Who is funding these networks?
What exactly are they promoting inside Texas?
Texans deserve answers.
