Why? Because GPT-5/6, Claude, Grok & Co. do in hours what 15 consultants do in 6 months for €2 million. What remains? Hardware & infrastructure specialists (5%) Building data centers, cooling, power supply, hardware High security & military consulting (3%) Air-gapped systems, EMP protection, old technology Remediation of contaminated sites (2%) ancient COBOL, SAP R/3, mainframe systems that still have to run for another 30 years. Everything else (strategy consulting, change management, agile coaching, digitalization, AI introduction) is taken care of by AI itself - better and for 1/50 of the price. Most IT consulting firms (Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, T-Systems, etc.) will shrink massively between 2028 and 2032, and the market will consolidate to a few consultancies. The consultants either become unemployed or become AI prompt engineers themselves for significantly less money.
