AIS steht für „Automatic Identification System". Jedes Handelsschiff sendet damit ein Signal: Position, Geschwindigkeit, Ziel. Daraus berechnen Analysten, Algorithmen und Energieagenturen wie viel Öl gerade fließt. Darauf basieren Ölpreismodelle. Darauf basieren Inflationsprognosen. Darauf basiert, was du für Benzin, Heizöl und Lebensmittel zahlst.
Das Problem: Seit Kriegsbeginn schalten immer mehr Schiffe dieses Signal ab. Sie fahren „dark". Manche spoofen ihre Position, senden also falsche Standortdaten. Andere gehören zu Irans sogenannter „Ghost Fleet", einer Schattenflotte von Tankern, die seit Jahren unter dem Radar operiert.
Die offiziellen Zahlen sehen so aus: Lloyd's List hat im gesamten März 2026 nur 142 Transits durch die Meerenge gezählt. Im März 2025 waren es 2.652. Ein Rückgang von 95 Prozent. Der historische Durchschnitt liegt bei 138 Schiffen pro Tag. Am 14. März wurde zum ersten Mal seit Kriegsbeginn kein einziges Schiff registriert.
Aber diese Zahlen erzählen nur die halbe Geschichte. Buchstäblich.
Lloyd's selbst meldet: 46 sogenannte „Dark Transits" allein im März. Schiffe, die ohne AIS-Signal durch die Meerenge gefahren sind. 32 Prozent aller Transits waren unsichtbar. Andererseits: Der gesamte Ölmarkt preist auf Basis systematisch unvollständiger Daten. Jede Inflationsprognose, jede Zinsentscheidung, jede Unternehmensplanung, die auf Ölpreisannahmen aufbaut, arbeitet mit einer Datengrundlage, die die Hälfte der Realität nicht kennt. Und wenn die Realität diese Daten einholt, kann die nächste große Preisbewegung in beide Richtungen kommen. Scharf. Schnell. Ohne Vorwarnung.
Citrini fasst die Lage so zusammen: Der Hormuz ist kein Schalter, der auf „offen" oder „geschlossen" steht. Was dort gerade passiert, nennen sie „Dynamic Enforcement". Die Regeln ändern sich. Die Durchsetzer ändern sich. Welche Schiffe durchdürfen, entscheidet die IRGC fallweise. Heute gilt eine Regel. Morgen eine andere. Das macht die Lage nicht weniger gefährlich. Der Ölpreis hat sich in den letzten fünf Wochen fast verdoppelt. Brent lag Ende Februar bei rund 70 Dollar, heute bei über 110. Am 2. April hat der physische Spot-Preis für tatsächliche Öl-Ladungen 141 Dollar erreicht. Das war der höchste Stand seit 2008.
All diese Preisbewegungen basieren auf Daten, die nur die Hälfte der Wahrheit zeigen.
