In the middle of Berlin, in the middle of Neukölln, in the middle of Germany, one of the most brutal despots of our time is paid homage. 80 people gather at the Imam Riza Mosque to mourn Ali Khamenei - a man under whose regime women were beaten for a piece of visible hair, homosexuals were hung from construction cranes and protesters were shot in the streets. And all of this under the watchful but apparently completely inactive eyes of the Berlin police. You have to let it all sink in: This mosque has been known to the security authorities as a problem location for years. As early as 2020, prayers were held there for the Iranian terrorist general Qassem Soleimani - a man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in the Middle East. And what has happened since then? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The mosque is still there, the events are still taking place, and the state is watching. You “observe”. One “takes note”. You write reports that end up gathering dust in some desk at the Interior Ministry. Watch lists – the favorite word of the German security bureaucracy. Sounds like action, but it's the exact opposite of it. Meanwhile, around 80 people were standing outside the door - Iranians who fled from this very regime, who sought refuge in Germany and who watched in disbelief as the butchers of their old homeland were celebrated in their new homeland. Exiled Iranians celebrated the tyrant's death at the Brandenburg Gate, waving Iranian, American and Israeli flags. THESE are the people to whom our solidarity should belong. Not those who cry crocodile tears for a mass murderer in a back room in Neukölln. And this is exactly where the fundamental failure of this state lies. If you publicly commemorate an Islamist dictator in Germany who terrorized his own people for decades, nothing will happen to you. But if you post the wrong things on Facebook, the police will be at your door at six in the morning. These are the priorities in this country. The circumstances are completely turned upside down. Why is a mosque that repeatedly serves as a platform for glorifying terrorists and dictators not being closed? Why are the organizers of such events not prosecuted? Why are there no consequences - never, for anyone, no matter how often such incidents repeat themselves? The answer is as simple as it is shameful: because the political class in this country is giving in to Islamism in a rush of obedience. Because people are afraid of being seen as Islamophobic. Because it's more comfortable to look away than to face the problem. Every single participant in this mourning event spat in the faces of the Iranian women who are fighting and dying for their freedom. Every single participant mocked the regime's thousands of political prisoners. And the German state allowed it. As always. In my opinion, at first glance this seems like a particularly creative approach to energy policy: While critics have long been warning that “green” gases are scarce and correspondingly expensive, the minister simply confidently declares that biomethane is available - and where demand arises, a market is already forming. From a satirical point of view, it's almost a bit magical: supply and demand basically solve all problems by themselves. 🤔 I find the reference to Ukraine as a potential major supplier particularly exciting. There is biogas in large quantities there, says Reiche - we just have to remove the regulatory hurdles on the Ukrainian and EU sides. Then nothing would stand in the way of “significant biomethane imports”. It seems as if a rather ambitious concept is being drawn up here: instead of focusing exclusively on domestic production or other European sources, the focus is on long transport routes and geopolitically sensitive supply chains - especially at a time when energy supply security should actually be at the top of the agenda. Ironically, it's almost a lesson in “think globally, heat locally”. What do you think about it? Is this a clever, pragmatic step – or rather a risky hope that “it will work at some point”?
