The central question remains: what is the objective of this war?
Is the goal regime change in Iran — or the destruction of the Iranian state?
Because the scale of the current campaign increasingly raises the question of which of these two outcomes is actually being pursued.
How can the destruction of major infrastructure in Iran, or trying to encourage the Kurdish minority to revolt against Tehran be explained while simultaneously claiming that the campaign is “for the Iranian people”?
Is the objective the complete destruction of Iran? If so, the scale of the current strikes becomes easier to understand.
But can you simultaneously call on the Iranian people to take to the streets while the same campaign is destroying the country’s infrastructure?
Even if we assume such pressure eventually triggers internal unrest and the Iranian public manages to overthrow the exactly (it will probably do the opposite) - would the destruction of infrastructure help them rebuild their country, or make that task far more difficult?
At the same time, Iran’s likely retaliation for these strikes could significantly drive up global oil prices.
In other words — how much of what we are currently seeing is actually designed to serve a clear strategic objective?

Zusatz: Die AfD ist bei Wählern mit rechtsextremistischen Einstellungen nahezu ausmobilisiert. Sie mobilisiert zudem sehr gut bei Nie- und Nichtwählern, die für die anderen Parteien noch nie oder schon seit längeren nicht mehr erreichbar sind. Diese holt sie an die Wahlurne. Aber von diesen gibt es kaum noch welche. Sie ist jetzt vorerst am Ende der Fahnenstange angekommen. Wir sehen das auch in den Umfragen.
Denn jeder Zugewinn kann von ihr von nun an nur dadurch realisiert werden, dass sie Wechselwähler oder Stammwähler der anderen Parteien von sich überzeugt. Und das ist bedeutend schwerer als beim obigen Wählerklientel. Wir sehen das bei Wahlen in besonders zentristischen Bundesländern. Wie z.B. in NRW oder morgen in BaWü. Trotz bester Ausgangslagen fehlt zu viel für deutliche Wahlgewinne. Der Wähler ist nicht dumm, er ist im Gegenteil sehr klug.
Daher ist die häufig von AfD-Sympathisanten postulierte Linearität ihrer Zuwächse Quatsch. Dass es nur eine Frage der Zeit wäre, bis sie absolute Mehrheiten holen würde, weil die Wähler ja irgendwie Lemminge wären. Dem ist nicht so, aber den Menschen zu suggerieren, sie seien Teil einer größeren Bewegung, ist natürlich geschickt von ihr gemacht.
Wenngleich auch die demoskopischen Werte in einigen ostdeutschen Ländern extrem hoch sind. Dafür gibt es viele Gründe, keiner davon ist jedoch, dass die Menschen in diesen Ländern "rechtsextremer" seien. Parteibindungen und -strukturen sind einfach weniger ausgeprägt. Der Mut zum radikalen Wechsel ist höher. Das liegt auch in geschichtlichen Erfahrungen begründet. Dennoch ist die AfD von sicheren absoluten Mehrheiten in der aktuell für sie brillanten politischen Gesamtlage entfernt. Die AfD wird im Herbst bei den Landtagswahlen kämpfen müssen.
Und die Parteien der politischen Mitte sollten dies auch tun. Kämpfen um die Köpfe und Herzen der dortigen Wähler. Auf Augenhöhe und ohne Scheue. Mit Ernsthaftigkeit, Aufrichtigkeit und Offenheit.
