Bayer is threatening to pull Roundup from the U.S. market if Congress won’t give them total immunity to poison Americans with glyphosate.
Let’s be clear:
This is a foreign company waging a propaganda war to seize control over our food system and independent farmers.
For the sake of our farmers’ independence and the sovereignty of our food system, Congress cannot fall for it.
Bayer made $2.8B from U.S. glyphosate sales in 2024.
They’re unlikely to walk away from that cash flow.
Their threat to exit the U.S. market is likely a weapon to coerce lawmakers, not a genuine threat.
If glyphosate actually vanished, our food supply would not fall apart.
Organic farming provides real-world proof:
These systems never use synthetic herbicides, yet they still produce substantial amounts of food every year.
Organic corn yields tend to be around 25% lower than conventional yields, but even a sizable yield difference would not translate into empty grocery shelves.
Why?
Because most glyphosate-treated corn is not grown for human consumption.
Over two-thirds of U.S. corn yield goes to ethanol and livestock feed.
The bottom line is this:
Bayer’s threats to pull Roundup are about leverage, not a looming food crisis.
This is a political power play to tighten Bayer’s control over our food system.

In this paragraph of the report Projected Housing Demand, Underproduction and Mismatch in Tennessee, @TN_Housing_Dev acknowledges that the projections for housing demand in Tennessee, and Nashville, are likely to be shown to be wrong.
Because of steps Donald Trump has taken to lower migration into the U.S., THDA believes they will have to adjust their projections downward in the future.
An article today in @Tennessean repeated the claim in the sentence with the "160,000 new housing units." The article omitted what I highlighted in yellow.
As Iran has fired something like 1000 missiles at a range of countries, here's a reminder that in the last 20 years ~70,000 have been fired at tiny Israel and the whole world, including the UN, thought they should just tolerate that forever.

I’m like half reading the arc for this book and reading some of the press. She’s a talented writer in a structural sense and clearly intelligent (although very distant from her true emotions and motivations) Mostly what I’m struck by is that in the name of sort of “out libbing them all” these people have recreated some of the most regressive structures that they once railed against- just kinda rebranded them. I fail to see how what happened to her is any different than the “women were supposed to just turn a blind eye to their husbands cheating” days. He treats being “polyamorous” as if it’s a completely immutable part of himself that she must accept. The lib framework is simply weaponized to meet the desires of whoever’s at the helm.
