Since 1979, there has never been a professional military and/or IC discussion, review, table-top exercise, planning session, research project, targeting review, maritime conference, or any mention of war with Iran in a professional setting that didn't include a comprehensive examination and acknowledgment of the war's impact on the Strait of Hormuz and the military options available to prevent, counter or ultimately defeat Iran's attempts to close it. CNN should consider the agenda of any former military "expert" of any rank or position who would even suggest otherwise. It's beyond ridicule - tens of thousands of living, breathing human beings who have been involved in such planning and research would tell you the exact opposite of what CNN is reporting. Apparently they were unable to find one.

Profoundly moving story from Baroness Finlay, former BMA president and a leading figure in palliative care, about one of her patients. “36 years ago a GP referred a distraught young man whose prognosis—as estimated by him, the surgeon, and the oncologist—was about three months, saying: ‘He is the most clear-cut case for euthanasia I have ever seen.’ “In total pain, desperate for lethal drugs, with his youngest child only six weeks old, his care was challenging, particularly in the first fortnight. “Eleven years after that visit, and after many times of complex care, David phoned me. His beautiful young wife was dying of advanced cancer. By then a wheelchair user, he and his three children were with her in the hospice as she died. “Just two days ago, I visited David, who—with his three fine adult children who he has brought up on his own despite his disability—said I could speak of this, in tribute to him and all his care has taught me. “They’re watching this debate today. I know they have tuned in. It’s a great privilege to be entrusted with such care.” (h/t @nmdacosta)

"Success" of tafenoquine in expanded trials for babesiosis (dated March 11, 2026), it's worth critically reflecting on the accelerated rollout of this drug in Brazil🇧🇷especially in vulnerable populations like the Yanomami Indigenous people in the Northern Amazon, a region with extremely low socioeconomic levels, high malaria burden, and an ongoing humanitarian crisis. This wasn't a classic "clinical trial" (phases I/II/III), but a pioneering operational implementation prioritized there due to the public health emergency. Key facts: - Start: March 2024 (from March 22, 2024 onward). The Yanomami were the FIRST group in Brazil to receive single-dose tafenoquine (150 mg, for those over 16 years) + chloroquine, with point-of-care G6PD testing to prevent severe hemolysis. Accelerated by the crisis in the Yanomami Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI), where P. vivax dominates cases. - Initial batch: ~8,000 treatments to cover needs for ~6 months; training for Yanomami health workers began then (e.g., in Boa Vista and Surucucu base). - Monitoring: Real-world, observational, ongoing—no fixed "test" period like traditional trials. Reports claim thousands used it safely over a year (2024 onward) thanks to G6PD testing, proving operational feasibility. - Supporting study: TRuST (Tafenoquine Roll-out Study), launched in September 2021 and published 2023/2024 (Lancet Global Health and Lancet Infectious Diseases). Conducted in Manaus (AM) and Porto Velho (RO)—NOT among the Yanomami—but used to justify rapid expansion to vulnerable Indigenous areas like theirs. - Pediatric version (50 mg, for children 10–35 kg): Introduced in March 2026, again with PRIORITY to the Yanomami Territory (first region to receive it, with 14,550 initial tablets). Brazil became the first country in the world to offer pediatric tafenoquine through the SUS (public health system)!!! Prioritization in remote/vulnerable populations to "demonstrate feasibility." But why? Why choose children and low-SES Indigenous groups as the initial "guinea pigs"? Questionable ethics—would more privileged populations be selected first? This reeks of global health inequality. We must ask: why are vulnerable Brazilians paving the way for "cures" tested in US trials? #Tafenoquine #Yanomami #HealthEthics #Malaria (Source: Official reports from MS/Fiocruz/WHO). @53v3n0fn1n3 @Jikkyleaks @AnneliseBocquet @MidwesternDoc
