🇹🇭Thailand is restarting its coal-fired power plants due to issues with liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply.
Coal is much cheaper than LNG, which accounts for about 60% of Thailand's energy production.
Spot prices for LNG have risen to $24-25 per million British thermal units, roughly double the average annual price last year.
The goal is to offset the rising LNG prices and keep electricity tariffs at 3.88 baht (12 cents) per kilowatt-hour between May and August.
