Der Ausschuss für Pharmakovigilanz und Risikobewertung der EMA (PRAC) hat die Überprüfung eines Sicherheitssignals zu dem Lebendimpfstoff Ixchiq abgeschlossen.
Auslöser war ein dokumentierter Fall von aseptischer Meningitis – also einer viralen Hirnhautentzündung – bei einem jungen, bis dahin vollkommen gesunden Erwachsenen nach der Impfung.
Aseptische Meningitis sowie Enzephalopathie und Enzephalitis waren zwar bereits als bekannte, seltene Nebenwirkungen in den Fachinformationen von Ixchiq gelistet.
Doch das Bild der Betroffenen hat sich nun verschoben.
Bislang traten entsprechende Fälle fast ausschließlich bei Menschen über 65 Jahren oder bei Personen mit mehreren Vorerkrankungen auf.
Der neue Fall zeigt:
Auch körperlich fitte, jüngere Erwachsene können schwere neurologische Reaktionen entwickeln.
Die Produktinformationen des Impfstoffs werden deshalb entsprechend angepasst. Die MRNA Falle.
Der PRAC führt nach Angaben der EMA derzeit eine reguläre Sicherheitsbewertung im Rahmen eines halbjährlichen Berichts durch, die bis Juni 2026 abgeschlossen sein soll.
