Frage: Chamenei und ein Teil der Führungsriege sind tot, zahlreiche militärische Einrichtungen des Iran zerstört. Wie soll es denn nun Ihrer Meinung nach weitergehen?
Röhl: Erstmal ist alles besser als das, was war. Die vom Westen faktisch seit 47 Jahren unterstützte Perpetuierung des Horrors im Iran ist keine Alternative. Die Frage ist jetzt in der Tat, wohin mit den durchkriminalisierten und von den Mullahs bewaffneten Schergen des Regimes. Wie kann jetzt der neue Führungskader unter dem nun etablierten neuen Führer Modschtaba Chamenei, Sohn des getöteten Ayatolla Chamenei, entmachtet werden? Diese Frage stellt sich objektiv. Eine Patentantwort gibt es nicht. Dieses Regime kämpft ja ähnlich wie die Hamas in Gaza auch damit, sich in Schulen, Krankenhäusern und Moscheen hinter menschlichen Schilden zu verstecken.
Das Regime hat de facto 47 Jahre lang Bürgerkrieg gegen die eigene Bevölkerung geführt, dann ist es jetzt unlauter, wenn jene, die dem zugeschaut haben, nun wohlfeil vor einem Bürgerkrieg warnen. Wichtig wäre jetzt, dass auch Europa hilft und auf der Stelle das Gesamtvermögen der Mullahs, insbesondere des neuen Führers Modschtaba Chamenei, enteignet und dabei auch Dubai, die finanzielle Drehscheibe vor Ort, in die Pflicht nimmt. Diese Vermögen werden nämlich sonst im Kampf gegen das iranische Volk und gegen alle erklärten Feinde des Landes eingesetzt.
Frage: Das heißt? Wie sehen Sie die Zukunft des Iran?
Röhl: Der größte Feind des iranischen Volkes ist die Besserwisser-Westlinke, die vor sechzig, siebzig Jahren massiv daran beteiligt war, den Schah, der den Iran modernisiert und in westliche Richtung geführt hat, maßlos zu verbösern und zu vertreiben und damit das Mullah-Regime unter Chomeini 1979 überhaupt erst zu ermöglichen. Es handelte sich damals um eine kommunistische, linke Massenhysterie auch im Westen gegen den Schah, der für seine sogenannte „Weiße Revolution“ – den Aufbau von Schulen, Unis, Kulturstätten, und für sein Engagement für die Gleichberechtigung der Frau, die Abschaffung des Kopftuchzwanges – gegen alle Faktizität verteufelt und verjagt wurde.
Sicher, der Schah war noch kein Musterdemokrat, aber er stand einer konstitutionellen Monarchie vor, die er auf den richtigen Weg bringen wollte. Der Sohn des Schahs, Reza Pahlawi, steht heute als Hoffnungsfigur auf dem politischen Schachbrett. Und wie es aussieht, wollen die Iraner, dass er beim Übergang zu einer Demokratie eine Rolle spielt.
Frage: Und Sie glauben ernstlich, dass sich Trump für die Iraner interessiert und diese nicht nur Figuren auf seinem „großen Schachbrett“ (Zbigniew Brzezinski) sind?
Röhl: Natürlich! Der Horror-Iran war, um es so zynisch zu sagen, wie es ist, Teil der „regelbasierten Weltordnung“, die im satten Establishment des Westens beschworen wird. Um etwas so Großes hinzukriegen wie einen Regime Change im Iran, der die ganze Welt von einer Bedrohung befreit, muss man eben größer denken – und das kann offenbar nur Trump. Er und Netanjahu haben in diesem Sinne bisher sehr umsichtig und effizient gehandelt.

Sure, the Shah was not yet a model democrat, but he presided over a constitutional monarchy that he wanted to put on the right path. The Shah's son, Reza Pahlawi, is now a figure of hope on the political chessboard. And it looks like Iranians want him to play a role in the transition to democracy.
Question: And you seriously believe that Trump is interested in the Iranians and that they are not just pieces on his “big chessboard” (Zbigniew Brzezinski)?
Röhl: Of course! Horror Iran was, to put it as cynically as it is, part of the “rules-based world order” invoked in the fed-up Western establishment.
